Ruzan Ali Kalawant

A child prodigy in Sarangi playing, Master Ruzan Ali Kalawant was born in 2007 in  Jaipur in a reputed musical family. His father, Janab Allah Rakha Kalawant, is a renowned Sarangi player and served ITC Sangeet Research Academy of Kolkata as a faculty member. Ustad Ramzan Khan, a noted Sarangi player of India, was his paternal great-grandfather, Ustad Aziz Khan Sahab, a renowned tabla player and Ganda band Shagird of Ustad Dhul Ji Khan, his maternal great-grandfather. Ruzan Inherited music from both paternal and maternal sides.

15-year-old Ruzan is a musical prodigy. His Sarangi playing naturally creates enthralling experiences.

Ruzan has been taking his taleem on Sarangi and vocal music under the guidance of his father, Janab Allah Rakha Kalawant, for the last five years. Disciplined improvisations, systematic unfolding of Ragas, thoughtful Alap, effective use of Gamak and Khatka, and use of Meru Khand tan are notable features of his Sarangi playing. Ruzan is pursuing his study in 9th standard, and in his short musical career, he ranked  in some National level Competitions such as:

 * stood first in Maharaja Kumbh Sangeet Parishad Music Competition, Udaipur Rajasthan, 2021.

* Stood first in the Talent Search competition organized by Sutanuti Parishad Kolkata in 2022.

Ruzan has performed Sarangi solo several times in Kolkata and various parts of India.
