Namaskar!
I am Sanjoy Bandopadhyay.
After two successful Gharoa Majlis by Sanjoy Bandopadhyay School of Music, it is good to share what is behind all these happenings. SBSM thanks one and all for excellent support.
My lifelong association with Hindustani Raga Music [HRM] and experiences through my multi-directional activities with Hindustani Raga Music [HRM] naturally generated a kind of Blind Love with this rich traditional art form. I put on hearty efforts to feel and understand the artistry, took a deep interest in framing effective pedagogy, and was also involved in validating my idiosyncratic ideas by employing widely accepted methods.
Gharoa Majlis is a method to evaluate how HRM in optimized form affects people of different musical preferences. The idea is to establish that ‘Optimized-HRM (OHRM)’ can cater to a significantly larger community of music listeners. When established, the musicians and music organizers may adopt OHRM and reach a larger audience. The involvement of a larger audience will automatically reduce the massive imbalance in HRM’s demand and supply situation. SBSM is trying to validate this idea methodically.
What are we doing now?
- SBSM is carefully listening to the organically identified musicians.
- It is trying to shortlist musicians to match the OHRM requirements.
- SBSM is communicating with the musicians to find out their readiness for OHRM.
SBSM is looking for musicians who
- will NOT compromise with the classicality of HRM at any stage of their renderings
- are highly proficient musicians
- will be at ease in delivering universal components of music profusely along with the usual culture-specific components.
SBSM is trying to shortlist 18 soloists at this time.

I think I should add a note
SBSM Gharoa Majlis is a non-commercial exercise. I am doing this for my blind love for HRM, and spending for this validation project is blissful! I am extremely thankful to one and all who are supporting my initiative. – Sanjoy Bandopadhyay | Kolkata | 16 March, 2023
