Kamalaksha Mukherjee
Shri Kamalaksha Mukherjee came from a musical family; his father is a table player. Kamalaksha’s father was instrumental in inspiring his unsatiable interest in music. Kamalaksha’s musical journey started with classical vocal music, but later, he became interested in Classical Harmonium playing. He was fortunate to receive the Harmonium legend Sri Maharaj Banerjee as his Guru, and he had the opportunity to advance his musicality and techniques under his affectionate guidance for 20 years.
Listening to Kamalaksha’s Harmonium is a prize listening experience. His aesthetic and highly sensitive support helps to glorify the musical renditions and naturally enthral audiences.
The Ministry of Culture, Government of India, awarded Kamalaksha National Scholarship in 2007. He received Ph.D. Degree from Rabindra Bharati University in 2019.
Kamalaksha provided Harmonium support to many eminent vocalists. Some of them are Pt. Amiya Ranjan Bandopadhyay, Ustad Maskur Ali Khan, Pt. Kaibalya Kumar Gurav, Pt. Satyashil Deshpande, Pt. Jaytirth Mehebunde, Pt. Nayan Ghosh, and Vidushi Rita Ganguly. He participated in many notable music festivals. Some of them are the All Bengal Music Conference, Dover Lane Periodicals, Kala Prakash (Banaras), Ramakrishna Mission Institute of Culture, Golpark, Kolkata, and Bishnupur Music Festival.
Kamalaksha is serving All India Radio as a graded Harmonium artist.
